It’s been… 2 years? It cannot be! Alas, it is. Happy 2 years to this podcast. It feels like yesterday that we just started this thing by discussing Donkey Kong Country on the SNES. On today’s episode Conner sits down with producer Jeremy to chat about the show’s beginning, some ins and outs, and even what the future might hold for Call Me By Your Game. After their chat stay tuned for a 40 minute preview of the latest co-op episode where Conner chats about Metroid Dread with Patrick Ehlers, Adrian Holmes, and Eddie Martin. Thank you to everyone who has supported this show in any way. It remains a joy to do.

Central Valley kids, unite! Holy moly what a surprise in this one. Turns out Conner and his guest Mark Mitchell of Nintendo Cartridge Society are from the same general area. How’s that for a coincindence (their hometowns are 202 miles apart so it’s not really that special. Mark makes his appearance on the show to discuss Kirby Super Star, watching his older sister Becca beat Super Mario Bros. for the first time, and getting back into gaming with the release of the Nintendo Switch.

Hadouken whatever I want! We finally discuss a game with enough iterations to fill seats in a banquet hall. We are joined by comedian, longtime LA improviser, and big ol’ Eagles fan Jonny Svarzbein to discuss arcade phenomenon turned home console juggernaut Street Fighter II (1992). Jonny discusses begging to visit a local arcade near his grandma’s house, brings up using the more challenging characters to earn his prowess, and he and Conner take only 7 minutes to bring up their fabeled UCB improv team Busters.

*obscure happy Dolphin noises*
Today we’re joined by sketch comedian and joke-enjoyer Austin Williams to discuss an absolute classic in Ecco the Dolphin (1992) for both the Sega Genesis and Master System. Austin talks to us about inheriting a Sega Genesis and bevy of games from her cousin, going over to her friend’s house and making her play Super Smash Bros. on N64, and how Ecco the Dolphin produced many feelings that were unexpected.

Happy Autumn! It’s been a while since we’ve heard from our host Conner so that’s exactly what we’re getting on Call Me By Your Game this week. He sits down with himself to let some video game thoughts wander and clue the listener into some things he’s been enjoying lately. Tune in for his months later feelings on The Legend of Zelda, to hear about his recent experience with the first Mass Effect game, listen to him complain about Nintendo’s frustrating practices, and of course get some Metroid chatter.

Destiny with Rod Benson. That sure sounds like a final boss encounter if you ask me. Speaking of bosses (forgive my 2007 diction), on today’s episode we are joined by former pro basketball player, current artist, speaker of souls, and contributor to SF Gate Rod Benson to discuss Destiny (2014). We discuss Rod’s high school Pokemon battles with Chad, his incredible Madden rating, and how his presence on Yahoo Sports lead to developing a group of friends to play Destiny with.
